I am an artist. Since I was a young child, I've been making art and was naturally inclined to drawing people and animals. I loved finding the nuances in subjects, as though they all had something fascinating worth capturing. In 2015, I took a break from my filmmaking and made a return leap to working on canvas. I feel there's nothing like getting absorbed into the creation of something new and painting for hours upon end for days upon end. My work still primarily focuses on people and animals while often in an an environment that fits with who they are. I like telling stories that ask the viewer to contemplate what might be going on, through emotion and some kind of feeling. I paint because I want and need to deeply connect with who I am - it's a familiar place where I feel alive, grateful and can dance without the music even being turned on.
In addition to my work as a painter, I also make films. I have discovered the stimulating similarities in both mediums. They both broaden my awareness and my view on the world. It's essential to keep learning and taking leaps into the unknown in art as it is in life. I attended a summer session at the Rhode Island School of Design and graduated with a BFA from the Maine College of Art. I received a BS in Art Education as well.
